A health department’s strategic plan is a playbook for creating a better, healthier future for the residents that a health department serves. The USVI Department of Health created the United States Virgin Islands Department of Health Strategic Plan, 2020-2025 report as part of a long-term health planning process that began in 2019. Together with the USVI 2020 Community Health Assessment, the United States Virgin Islands Department of Health Strategic Plan, 2020-2025 completes another step in the USVI Department of Health’s Healthy Virgin Islands initiative, a ten-year effort to achieve the DOH’s vision of the future of health in the Virgin Islands:
• Trusted systems supporting healthy people in healthy communities for a healthy Virgin Islands.
USVI DOH Strategic Plan 2020-2025
The purpose of this plan is to guide a five-year process to improve the work and outcomes of the United States Virgin Islands Department of Health. Think of it as an internal blueprint for the Department of Health to become stronger and better at its work. This plan developed with input from internal stakeholders and external partners. The planning team wants to extend a special thank you to our Department of Health staff who provided reflections on their work experiences to help the department develop this plan.
The United States Virgin Islands Department of Health Strategic Plan, 2020-2025 defines the Department of Health’s priorities, direction, and role over the next several years. It is a manifesto for change. We encourage our partners and the community to download the plan to see what our department will be doing to improve ourselves so that we can meet the challenges of today and the future.
