Governor Bryan Officially Launches Program to Reimburse Public School Educators for Out-of-Pocket Expenses from Virtual Learning

Incentive for Educators Conducting Virtual Learning (IECVL) program to provide reimbursement payments to 1,300 eligible public school educators

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. on Friday announced the official launch of his administration’s initiative to reimburse educators within the territory’s public school system for out-of-pocket expenses incurred related to virtual learning for the 2020-2021 school year.

During his third State of the Territory Address on Monday, the Governor announced the initiative, acknowledging public school educators’ efforts during the pandemic and the Bryan-Roach Administration’s plans to utilize Education Stabilization Funds through the CARES Act to provide the reimbursements to eligible public school educators.

The Incentive for Educators Conducting Virtual Learning will provide approximately 1,300 reimbursement payments to eligible public school educators for expenses they personally incurred as a result of the safety guidelines put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virgin Islands Department of Health for the 2020-2021 school year.

Educators currently eligible for reimbursement under the program include teachers, principals, content coordinators, guidance counselors and paraprofessionals.
