Federal Government Approves Extension of Health Commissioner’s VI Assignment
In response to the request by Governor Kenneth E. Mapp, the United States Department of Health and Human Services has agreed to extend for another year the assignment of Dr. Michelle Davis to serve as the Virgin Islands Commissioner of Health.
In a brief letter approving the Governor’s request, the Acting Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Don Wright, relayed to the Governor that HHS Secretary, Dr. Thomas E. Price, appreciated the request. Dr. Davis is
able to serve as Commissioner in the territory under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA), which allows temporary assignment to other government agencies.
Governor Mapp has offered his congratulations to Dr. Davis, and thanked her for her willingness to continue serving the people of the Virgin Islands. Dr. Davis says she is honored to continue her service to the territory, which is now authorized through March 14, 2018.
