DOH to Host Zika Action Day Saturday, August 26th on St. Thomas
The USVI Department of Health (DOH) will be hosting its second Zika Action Day, of the year, on St. Thomas. It will be held on Saturday, August 26th, in the Fort Christian parking lot, from 12pm-6pm. Zika Action Day will be a fun-filled event for the entire community, including Zika information, free Zika prevention products, music, activities for kids, raffle prizes, and many giveaways.
Commissioner of Health, Michelle S. Davis, PhD, stated, “Zika Action Day provides a unique opportunity for us to come together [public and private partners] as a community and show our solidarity for Zika prevention and doing what is necessary to stop this virus from spreading. Although Zika Action Day is a fun event for the family, our purpose is to continue to educate the public about Zika prevention methods and have our pregnant women become more familiar with the free resources that the Department of Health has specifically for them so that they can protect their newborns.”
During Zika Action Day, the Department of Health will provide free Zika Prevention Kits and Zika testing to pregnant women. For more information call 340-712-6205 for more information.
