The Department of Health is on a campaign to promote the prevention of chronic diseases in the territory. The campaign is focused on Diabetes prevention/management and the association between chronic disease and tobacco use. A series of forums, titled Diabetes: A Deadly Disease & Tobacco: A Deadly Substance, will be held on St. Croix (February 16th) and St. Thomas (February 23rd), in which physicians, nutritionists and certified specialists will discuss lifestyle changes that can be implemented to prevent and/or manage diabetes, the health risks caused by various uses of tobacco, how exercise can prevent/manage chronic diseases, the importance of nutrition on your health and much more.
