St. Croix, US Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Department of Health is investigating the unexpected death of a 41-year old male on St. Thomas who recovered from COVID-19 five weeks ago. Health officials are waiting for evaluation from the medical examiner for more details to determine if there is any direct relation to COVID-19. The deceased’s next of kin has been notified.
If confirmed, this death will mark the twenty-fifth death related to COVID-19 in the territory. The Department extends condolences to the family of the deceased and continues to work with other agencies in taking unprecedented actions to slow the spread of COVID-19.
