The renovation of the Frederiksted WIC building (1st floor & exterior) for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) on St. Croix will create an open office floor plan and provide equipment, technology, and other infrastructure damaged as a result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. When completed in July 2023, this newly renovated 3,700 square foot, historical structure will provide a centralized, service location for the participants of the WIC Program and staff in the West-End on the island of St. Croix.
The $714,784.60 thousand dollars being used for the construction of this building comes from the original $6,313,056 grant provided by the August 2018 US Department of Agriculture award to the U.S. Virgin Islands (VI) Department of Health’s (DOH) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). This award is pursuant to the authorities of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (P.L 115-123).
