In December 2019, a new (or novel) human coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) type emerged in China. COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, is now a pandemic affecting many countries globally. Patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection have reportedly had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of cough and shortness of breath, along with other symptoms, appearing anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure.
